Zehr Finishes 6th at GSS ‘The Thaw’

Yesterday’s event at Golden Sand Speedway proved to be a wonderful, but challenging day for the entire Redline Speedsports team. After a long off-season, the team was happy and excited to see and catch-up with our entire racing family and community. Although the day did not measure up to our expectations, overall, given the circumstances, we were content with the results.

Zehr qualified 11th in the time trials putting us in the big race. After another driver was disqualified, the #7-11 was bumped up to the Even Heat, starting in the front on the outside. With radio issues forcing Zehr to drive solo, he finished a strong 2nd. Between races, the team worked to get the radio issues fixed.

The #7-11 and Zehr started second row outside for the big 100-lap feature event. Unfortunately, the #7-11 was very loose throughout the race for Zehr. When other drivers may have called it quits, Zehr viewed it as a learning experience and forged ahead. Just when Zehr was starting to close the gaps in front of him, an untimely caution was waved. With about 33 laps remaining, the team hoped for a caution-free run to the end, but this was not to be. In the end, ‘Johnnie’ and Zehr were able to pull off an impressive 6th place finish.

Redline Speedsports is looking forward to our next racing event when the #7-11 will be running as strong or stronger than last year’s record year.

We can’t thank everyone enough for their support:

  • First and foremost, to all of our sponsors who make it possible for us to race.
  • To our family and friends who support us throughout the year.
  • And to all of the fans that come to cheer us on, visit us in the pits after the races, and follow us on-line.
